Throughout my career, one of the questions that I was repeatedly asked was, “What is an Art Consultant?”.
During my 40+ years in the art biz, I offered wide-ranging art consulting, art acquisition, and fine art asset management services to artists, interior designers, corporations and private collectors Here is an insight into what provided many rewarding and memorable experiences:
Based in Toronto, I travelled throughout Canada to reconnoiter corporate offices that required artwork, visited museums and art galleries for edification and enlightenment and visited artists’ studios where I was constantly amazed and inspired by those talented artists who allowed me to take their work on consignment for sale to my clients. I attended international Art Fairs in Toronto, Montreal, the US and Europe and over the years, I engaged with hundreds and hundreds of people including artists, industry colleagues, and clients. I established meaningful working relationships with many of my clients and colleagues some of whom have become lifelong friends. I curated exhibitions in both commercial and private venues including expositions commissioned by The Government of Canada that travelled to embassies and consulates. I never stopped learning and was able to impart my knowledge as an advisor to artists and as an educator to my clients.
