Victor Mateo was born in Tangier, Morocco, in 1945.
From 1957 to 1986 he lived in Canada where his formal artistic education took place. In 1986 he moved to Barcelona and has lived there since.
Mateo has had numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Canada; Latin America; Japan (The ACS Gallery in Nagoya); Morocco; The United States (New York's Tribeca Art Gallery); and throughout Europe including the Sala Exposiciones Caja in Madrid and Barcelona.
Victor Mateo has won many awards for his abstract expressionist paintings including at the Art Expo Fair in Barcelona in 1996, 1997 and 1999 and at the Art Junction Fair in Cannes, France in 1994.
