I first admired Michael's paintings when he exhibited in a Yorkville gallery (Toronto) during the 80's. We never met as he lives out west, but I recently was in touch with him to say that I was going to post this painting on my website.
In Michael's words: "These paintings are like children, cast off to the wind. It's so nice to be reunited with Prairie Diamond #8! The "diamond" series was a short lived experiment. I liked the way the diamond format seemed to thrust the centre of the picture way into the background, even when I tried to make it flat... After all these years I think this painting holds up pretty well."
